Emin Huseynov

Member of SOCAR Supervisory Board

Emin Huseynov was born on the 12th of November 1974. In 1996 he attended the School of Commerce of Azerbaijan State University of Economics majoring in International Economic Relations. In 1998 he earned a Master’s Degree in Economics, Florida State University, USA. In 2009 he received a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Harvard Kennedy School, USA. In 2014 he was awarded a PhD in Economics by the Supreme Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

He served as an economist at the World Bank Azerbaijan Office in 1998-2001. In 2001-2003 he held the same position at the International Monetary Fund Azerbaijan Office. He joined the World Bank Azerbaijan Office as the country manager in 2003-2005. In 2005-2013 he worked his way up from Director of the Department of Studies at National Bank of Azerbaijan to CEO of Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In 2013-2016 he was Vice Principal for Strategy and Development at Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA), where he also worked as Vice Principal for Science and Strategy from January to June 2016. In 2016-2018 he was acting Deputy Minister of Finance, and since 2018, he has been working as Assistant to First Vice President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva.

By Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated the 23rd of January 2021 he was appointed a Member of the Supervisory Board of SOCAR. According to the Order issued by the head of state on the 1st of December 2021, he was appointed Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the territories liberated from the occupation in the Karabakh economic region (with the exception of Shusha) under Decree No. 1386 “On the new division of economic regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan” issued by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the 7th of July 2021.
