On August 21, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev met with Chairman of the Management Committee of Gazprom Alexey Miller, and then, CEO of Rosneft Igor Sechin in St. Petersburg. During the meetings, SOCAR, Gazprom and Rosneft discussed future development issues of cooperation and exchanged views in this regard.
Youth Foundation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan announced the results of 10th grant competition held on 24 April-15 May 2017.
In accordance with the results, out of 418 winning projects in “C” category (projects of physical persons) 7 ones were submitted by the students of Baku Higher Oil School and 3 projects were promoted via partnership of BHOS students’ youth organization.
The goal of the competition is to ensure the assistance for intellectual and moral development of young generation, increase of public activities, realization of innovative ideas and creative initiatives. The grant competition held in 20 directions mainly encompassed social way of life, ecology, culture, creativity and other similar spheres.
Thus, below mentioned projects will be realized with the organizational support of BHOS as the result of the said grant competition:
“The Development of Algorithmic Thinking” project by BHOS third year student studying in Process Automation Engineering Program, Ayaz Samadli; “Industrial Products Production from Biomass” project by BHOS fourth year student studying in Chemical Engineering Program, chair of BHOS Students’ Trade Union, Zaur Mammadzada; “Entropy as the Cause of Greenhouse Effect Increase” project by BHOS third year student studying in Chemical Engineering Program, Vusal Guluyev; “Future Coming with the Engineers” project by BHOS third year student studying in Chemical Engineering Program Anar Badalbeyli; “Young 3D Printer Engineers” project by BHOS fourth year student studying in Process Automation Engineering Program, Elvin Ismayilov; “Young Web Programmers of Azerbaijan” project by BHOS fourth year student studying in Process Automation Engineering Leyli Abbasova; “Young Drone Engineers” project by BHOS fourth year student studying in Process Automation Engineering, Azer Omarov.
The projects are more focused on technical fields oriented to increase engineering skills. In the frames of the projects there will be organized interesting workshop, excursions and presentations. Participants will learn to work in team during trainings gaining valuable programing experience. The involvement of youth between 15-30 years old in projects is specially notable.
SOCAR (excluding Joint Ventures and Operating Companies) conducted 9673 meters of drilling works in July 2017.
Of this amount, development drilling made up 9071 metres, and exploration drilling - 602 metres. In general, during January-July 2017, SOCAR (excluding Joint Ventures and Operating Companies) carried out 83462 meters of drilling works including 77078 meters-development drilling and 6384 - exploration drilling.
Drilling of eight wells were completed in July, and 46 new wells were put into operation after the construction since the start of the year.
The State Examination Center announced results of the entrance exams to national higher educational institutions for 2017/2018 academic year. Seven prospective students earned the highest score at the exams on the 1st group of specialities-700 points. Six of them (Elmir Akhmedov, Lyceum named after Academician Zarifa Aliyeva, Abdulla Askerzadeh, Istek Lyceum, Gandja, Gabil Aliyev, Baku Turkish Lyceum, Khalida Aliyeva, school №220, Baku, Vahab Jabrayilov, secondary school of Lahij village, Ismayilli district, Mahira Asadzadah, school №162, Baku) have chosen to study at the Baku Higher Oil School.
2 mln 403 thousand 234 tons of Azerbaijani oil were transported via BTC main export pipeline in July 2017. 15 mln 577 thousand 521 tons of oil were transported via this pipeline in January-July. In general, 337 mln 115 thousand 583 tons of oil have been pumped to BTC since the start of pipeline exploitation until August 1, 2017. In addition, overall 486 thousand 269 tons of Turkmen oil were pumped via BTC in July 2017.
2 mln 416 thousand 951 tons of Azerbaijani oil were delivered from Ceyhan Port to the world market in July 2017. (1 mln 678 thousand 704 tons of this volume were the oil of the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan). 14 mln 707 thousand 802 tons of oil were exported from Ceyhan in January-July this year. In general, 334 mln 542 thousand 401 tons of Azerbaijani oil have been exported from Ceyhan Port to the world market since the start of BTC exploitation until August 1, 2017.
In July 2017, SOCAR Marketing and Economic Operations Department exported 32 625 tons of diesel fuel, 1 968 tons of aircraft gasoline, 6 360 tons of high-pressure polyethylene, 586 tons of absolute isopropyl alcohol, 2 976 tons of pyrolytic oil tar, 2 504 tons of propylene, 1 058 tons of butylene butadiene. In January-July 2017, generally 348 180 tons of diesel fuel, 26 054 tons of aircraft gasoline, 117 tons of stove oil, 54 171 tons of high-pressure polyethylene, 6 405 tons of absolute isopropyl alcohol, 37 277 tons of pyrolytic oil tar, 24 662 tons of propylene, 16 378 tons of butylene butadiene were exported. For July 2017, the average prices for oil products in the world market were as follows: ethyl petrol-(per ton) $509.92, aircraft gasoline-$474.06, diesel fuel-$435.01 and black oil containing 1% sulphur-$286.50, high-pressure polyethylene - $1163.75, butylene butadiene - $515.66, propylene
In July 2017, SOCAR has exported 264 489 tons from Supsa port, 1 540 751 tons from Ceyhan port. Generally, 733 664 tons of crude oil was exported from Novorossiysk port, 1 579 673 tons from Supsa, 9 667 066 tons from Ceyhan port in January-July 2017. The indices of crude oil exported by the SOCAR reflect the volumes of crude oil belonging to both State of Azerbaijan and the Company.
In July 2017, price for Brent crude oil in the world market was $48.56 per barrel, Urals oil - $47.92 and BTC FOB Ceyhan crude oil - $49.34.
Third and fourth-year undergraduates studying Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Process Automation Engineering at Baku Higher Oil School undertake paid internship at BP company in Azerbaijan. In total, 14 BHOS students participate in on-the-job training, which will last for 10 weeks from July through September.
During the internship, the students gain practical experience in working jointly with specialists at a large international company, familiarize themselves with large-scale oil and gas projects operated by BP and carried out in the Caspian region, and get acquainted with advanced technologies and modern equipment used during implementation of these projects. They will visit production facilities and fabrication yards of BP company in Azerbaijan and have an opportunity to see practical engineering activity in the oil and gas sector with their own eyes.
In the course of the internship at BP in Azerbaijan, the students shall improve their technical and industrial skills and experience, while using the academic knowledge gained at BHOS. In addition, they will be introduced to standards and procedures for technological operations and processes as well as for quality control and quality assurance. The students will also learn about the company’s rules and regulations in the field of Health, Safety and Environment and the policies on Business Ethics and Integrity.
Upon the internship program completion, BHOS students shall prepare and submit reports through presentations about their on-the-job training, which will be assessed by the Higher School’s professors.
