Ziba Mustafayeva, Vice President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), held a meeting with Sadagat Siddikova, Rector of the Bukhara Engineering-Technological Institute, during her visit to Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the parties highlighted the successful development of mutual cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in various fields, including education. They discussed the progress of the dual diploma program projects between the higher education institutions of the two countries. The relevant decision regarding the program was made during the 12th meeting of the intergovernmental commission of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan on July 18, 2023, in Shusha, and was also mentioned in the Memorandum of Understanding signed on that date between SOCAR and Uzbekneftegaz Joint Stock Company on personnel training.
At the meeting, the parties also highlighted that SOCAR’s Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) has initiated analogous projects Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology, and Bukhara Engineering-Technological Institute of Uzbekistan.
In this regard, the parties expressed satisfaction with the agreement signed between BHOS and the Bukhara Institute of Engineering and Technology for a paid dual diploma program in chemical engineering at the master's level. According to the agreement, students will study at the Bukhara Engineering-Technological Institute in the first year and at BHOS in the second year, with their diploma defense taking place at BHOS. Upon completion, they will receive diplomas from both institutions.
It is worth noting that jointly implemented projects and the mutual exchange of experience will significantly contribute to developing competitive human capital and advancing education and scientific research in both countries.
